“Licensed to Kill”: WANTED → US Oil Giant – BOUNTY → Land & Medal of Honor
“Known as the “Amazon Chernobyl,” the case against Chevron was brought about after the flooding of Ecuador’s ecosystem with deadly amounts of oil and toxic waste by the corporation Texaco, now owned by Chevron.” -Taylor Dorrell
The film Giant, “Big Texas” is the scene of a duel between cattle and oil. In the real world, Meat Packers and Big Oil & Gas are monopolizing the industries.
But today the Battle is not between them. It’s against them. The People’s fight against CONTAMINATED water and food. National Security, Where’s the NON-Contaminated US Beef & Pork?
“This is industrial exploitation permitted by law” – Chevron lawyer
Virginia, unlike Texas, was the scene of a duel between people and Du Pont. Merging with the Dow Chemical Company in 2017, they became known as DowDuPont and known for the “forever chemical.”
Speaking of dangerous chemicals, the subjects of National Security, Biochemical Security and Energy Security were recently discussed in US. But the focus is not on US oil or the biochemical corporations which developed the “forever chemical” for the military.
Concern for chemical & biological weapons like WMDs continues to be misdirected. From the US to Middle East, China and now Russia – Sanctioned by Nations and Boycotted by Corporations.
In the film “Dark Waters”, Du Pont representatives attributed cattle falling sick or dying due to “poor nutrition.” Chevron, sound familiar? Taylor Dorrell at Peoples World notes Chevron’s response in the lawsuit brought by the people and government of Ecuador:
“Certainly there are people there that are sick, it’s a very poor region,” Chevron’s Chief Environmental Scientist Sara McMillen said. “There’s absolutely no evidence that there’s an increase in cancer rates, and there’s absolutely no evidence that any of that is linked to oil production.”
Thousands of people in US state of Virginia were exposed to PFOA in drinking water. Chevron, recall your response as to Ecuador’s water?
“She [McMillen] said company scientists found the local water to be up to safe drinking standards, but in the same breath claimed that skin irritation caused by bathing in contaminated water was caused by inept sewage systems, not oil. “This is industrial exploitation permitted by law,” said a Chevron lawyer, “not contamination.”
Counselor, call it what the fuck you like, the result is still sickness and death.
Ultimately, “Chevron admitted to Texaco’s dumping of 16 billion gallons of toxic waste into waterways, a regular practice for them to keep waste pits from overflowing, however, they refuse to take any legal responsibility for their actions.” And they’re not the first. Recall Sweden’s Boliden?
Ecuador is just north of Peru and Chile. Right, Chile still reports toxic waste near children’s homes. Boliden too appears to have seen South America as the ideal dumping yard for waste. A 2013 report on sverigesradio.se, noted “Chile are suing Swedish mining company Boliden for dumping poisonous wastes in their village.”
Chevron, do you as “Boliden develops its own methods for waste disposal”? Or, what you call “industrial exploitation permitted by law.”
Dorrell points to:
A “4,000-page independent investigation found that Chevron was indeed responsible for the environmental harm, cancer deaths, impacts on indigenous communities, and Texaco’s “unjust enrichment”… judge found Chevron guilty based on the overwhelming evidence, and damages were eventually set at $9.5 billion…but Chevron refused to accept the verdict and pulled all of their assets out of Ecuador… the company unsuccessfully lobbied the U.S. government to revoke trade agreements with Ecuador.”
Chevron, were you expecting a settlement like that of Dupont, $670 million? Surprised US did not sanction Ecuador.
Partners in Crime? Chemistry or Chemical Imbalance
At first I thought I was fighting to save rubber trees, then I thought I was fighting to save the Amazon rainforest. Now I realize I am fighting for humanity. — Chico Mendes
The “Big Banana” and “DirtyDup” seem to be “partners in crime.” How convenient. Why didn’t US sanction Ecuador? Right, Ireland and Dole would not like it. It seems the banana industry is familiar with Dow Chemical Company now known as DowDuPont.
Workers from a Nicaraguan plantation sued both Dole and the chemical company on account of some illegal pesticides. Unlike the charming and “lucky cereal,” the workers weren’t as lucky. No, they didn’t go bananas. Apparently, if the company can’t sterilize you the government’s military will neutralize you permanently.
But you can find out what happened by seeing the film, Bananas! The documentary is by Fredrik Gertten, Swedish director. I wonder if the film brings up reports of Dole outbreaks and recalls due to E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, or the 2016 Listeriosis outbreak where U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro stated:
“News that Dole knew about a Listeria outbreak in their facility, yet continued to push contaminated salads onto the American consumer is an outrage. How could executives at Dole even consider putting products onto store shelves and into American homes when they knew for close to two years that there was a major public health issue? These executives must be held accountable for their unconscionable actions.”
It appears the executives did not regard her comment. Last year, there was a Listeria recall. Again! It’s enough to make one “Go Bananas!”
Chiquita, reports indicate you having been acquired by a “network of companies.” And you too appear to face violations of worker rights and environmental issues. Difference is the Irish “big banana” seems to have kept the evidence of malfeasance under raps. Luck of d’Irish?
Time to change you name to “la dirty chica grande”? No surprise you are now the property of the “seas of banking.”
Brazil, it appears you have cornered the meat packing, fruit markets and critical materials. Never mind the food contaminating allegations coming from the US or the use of pesticide in the Ecuadorean banana plantations.
Seems the demand for Niobium in the West makes the reported sale of your mine to China, Molybdenum, geopolitically correct and strategic.
Small world. What does Canada, US, Nicaragua, South America, Africa, Australia, Sweden and Ireland have in common? GMOs, pesticides, toxic chemical dumping, food and water contamination, fossil fuels…
Shit, no wonder NASA and the Soft men of Silicon Valley want to go to Mars.
Sanctions and US Oil Giants
Truth will rise above falsehood as oil above water. – Miguel de Cervantes
The US film Giant shows us the power of land ownership. Especially if the land you strike oil is your own. But unlike the Texan character played by James Dean, land owners in other countries are SOL. You see, while “possession is nine-tenths of the law” in US, for other countries repossession is the law.
Countries, having sold to the highest bidder, American oil and gas explorers extract minerals and fuels dumping toxic chemicals. If US Corporations are dumping in their own backyard, it’s no surprise they’ll dump on yours. Of course, if anyone is killed, hurt or any damage they’re good at giving gifts.
According to a US Embassy Cable, “PM al-Maliki said that he prefers to go with Chevron on the deal; however, he remarked that if U.S. rules prevent Chevron from doing this project, he would approach a non-American firm.”
Intel in the document was to be concealed until 2029. Seems the “cat is out of bag.” I remind you not all cats have nine lives. But that was 23 March 2009.
Current focus is once again on a leader invading land, war crimes, nuclear and bioweapons resulting in death. US, sound familiar? I am reminded of WWI US hero Sergeant York who was awarded land and medals of honor. York reportedly justified killing as a way of saving lives.
Does Executing this same war logic on CEOs, Enemies of the State committing crimes against humanity foreign and domestic, apply?
I remind you, death is death. Your Lord is not the only one who moves in mysterious ways.
Gentlemen, I leave you with the words of an oil man, “There Will Be Blood.”
